His work is focused on the history of Kenyan art and the cultural analysis of East Africa and the Global South generally. He has hosted a series of presentations and panel discussions focusing on Kenya’s art history in partnership with the Goethe Institut and the Global Shapers Foundation. His expertise shows the interrelation between the sculptures of Tanzania’s Makonde and Zaramo communities and 20th-century Kenyan sculptures and the transnational evolution of these artforms into a unique aesthetic of modernist art in the 20th century.
